Methods to upload/add files to Fileflare
There are a few methods to bulk upload many files to Fileflare. I will go into more depth below:
Method 1 – Upload files using the native Fileflare uploader
Fileflare has an Upload section where you can upload as many files as you want with any file size, as long as it's within your plan's allocated storage allowance. We would recommend uploading in batches to avoid upload failures (e.g. don't upload hundreds or thousands at once).
If you need to upload thousands of files, I would recommend using your own S3 server in Method 1, then uploading them using your S3 provider's uploader. Once the S3 is connected to Fileflare, you can read all of the files from your server and load them into Fileflare.
Once you have uploaded all of your files, you can use our bulk CSV feature to attach all of the files to your Shopify products.
Method 2 – Using our API with an external uploader like HeftySend
Fileflare has an API where you can upload files using your own custom methods.
For example, you can use the HeftySend.com app to upload files using their uploader via our API. No technical knowledge required. Just create the API key in Fileflare, and paste it into the box in HeftySend's heftysend.com/fileflare page.
- Go to Fileflare > Settings > API
- Create an API key and copy it
- Go to heftysend.com and create a free account
- Go to heftysend.com/fileflare and paste your API key
- Now you can upload files using their uploader directly to your Fileflare account from the uploader on this page - https://heftysend.com/fileflare
Method 3 – Connecting your own S3 storage to Fileflare
You can connect your own S3 storage server to Fileflare so that Fileflare uses it as the main storage host for your files. This allows you to control your storage costs without limitations, and securely host all of your files with your own account. Fileflare reads the files directly from your S3 and delivers secure links to your customers.
Our recommended approach:
- Create a Cloudflare R2 bucket, it's free up to 10GB, unlimited free bandwidth forever, and costs around $15 per TB.
- Connect the bucket to Fileflare using our quick R2 video guide.
- Use one of the below options to upload your files to the R2 bucket.
R2 uploaders:
- R2upload.cloud - Browser uploader - Free
- CloudMounter - MacOS app - Costs
- R2up - Browser uploader - Free
Method 4 – Bulk add external URLs + attach to products using our CSV import tool
The way Fileflare works is by adding assets to the app and then attaching those assets to products. Once a product is ordered, the attached files will be delivered to the customer.
Fileflare has the ability to create URL Assets, meaning you can deliver an external URL after purchase, such as HeftySend, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.
