Bulk-send download emails to your customers

To send download emails to many customers, there are three methods that allow this:


  1. Method 1 - Using the Replace file function. Only deliver 1 asset at a time. Maximum of 10,000 emails.
  2. Method 2 - Using the email software and Fileflare link method. Deliver multiple assets and no limits.


All of these methods will bulk send emails to your previous customers. You just need to decide which one you would like to use for your use-case.


What plan do I need?


  • Method 1 - Using the replace file method, you will need the Basic plan or higher. This only works with one asset at a time. You cannot send a single email with multiple assets.
  • Method 2 - Using the customer account method, you will need the Premium plan.


How to do it


Method 1 - Replace file method


This method has a temporary maximum send limit of 10,000 emails. Please use method 2 to send more than 10,000.


How does this work? The download emails will only send to customers that have bought the Shopify products that the asset is attached to. Please ensure that you have attached the asset to the correct products before continuing.


  1. Go to the Asset page
  2. Click the "Replace" button
  3. Replace the asset with the same asset
  4. The app will display a checkbox to ask if you want to inform any previous customers of the newly updated version. If you do want to inform them, enable the checkbox, and the app will send a download email to each of those customers that have bought the Shopify product that the asset is attached to. The app will read the products that are attached to the asset, then find all orders that bought that product.

How does this work? This method works by using a link that Fileflare provides that you can place in your email content that links to the download page. It will ask customers to authenticate themselves with the email they used for the order for it to load the downloads.


1. Upgrade to Fileflare Premium plan

Upgrade to the Premium plan to enable customer account downloads. This is how the link works that we provide. It's built for use with the customer account authentication.


Ensure you are upgrade to Premium plan so that customer account downloads is enabled on your account. Feel free to use our 14-day free trial if you only need to do this short term.


2. Go to your email software

You will need to be using email software, such as Shopify Mail, Omnisend or similar. Load up the software and set up your send to inform your customers that they can access the new updated files.


Use the link below and place it anywhere in your email template using your email software. You can add it to a button, or even in text. This will link to your store and ask the user to authenticate with their email to show the download page. They must use the same email that they used for the order.
