Difference between Legacy and New:

| We recommend using Legacy Customer Accounts. We find that they are more presentable because they are integrated into your store better by being on the same domain and part of your store's theme styling, unlike the New Customer Accounts. Learn more about the differences below.

Set up PDF Stamping (Watermark)

PDF Stamping is a brilliant method to prevent your customers from sharing digital downloads with others. Of course, it only works on PDF files, but you can learn more about preventing customers from sharing other types of digital downloads here.

Below is a video showing a stamped and locked PDF so the customer cannot remove their personal details. Preventing them from sharing the PDF with others because their identity is attached.

What plan do I need?

The Basic plan to use a single PDF Stamping template.
The Growth plan or higher to create unlimited PDF Stamping templates.

Limitation of 100MB on PDFs to use PDF Stamping

||| Please note that there is a maximum file size of 100MB to use PDF Stamping. If you want to compress your PDFs, you can do this here on Adobe’s PDF Compression page.

It will be able to compress your PDF to less than 100MB while maintaining the quality. Adobe invented PDFs, so this service is the best you can get.

If you did compress your PDF, you could use the Replace asset button to replace the PDF. This will replace the current PDF, so you don’t need to do anything else. You will be asked if you want to inform customers of an updated file, but that’s up to you to say Yes or No.

Go to your Shopify admin
Go to "Settings"
"Checkout"
Click the "Customize" button

Next, you need to add the app to both of these pages:

Thank you - the page that appears directly after an order is placed
Order status - the page that appears when clicking the "View order details" button from Shopify's order confirmation, or from within the Shopify admin

Go to "Sections" in the top-left, then select the "Add app block" button at the bottom

Select the Fileflare block & place it on your page

Please follow this step for both the Thank You page and the Order Status page. This is important if you have enabled the download details inside Shopify's order confirmation email.

Checklist to ensure store is set up correctly

1. Mark your digital products as “Digital” in Shopify

This will stop the Shipping queries from showing at checkout for the customer & also stop the Shopify physical shipping emails from sending to your customers with digital file delivery.

Go to your Shopify admin dashboard
Go to Products
Click on a product
Scroll down until you see the Shipping section. Uncheck the option “This is a physical product”. (If you are using variants, you will need to open the variant edit page)

2. Ensure you are capturing emails on orders, not just phone numbers

If you want to deliver downloads via email, make sure you are capturing emails at checkout so files can be delivered to your customers. Download links cannot be sent to phone numbers.

This guide will show you how to set up Fileflare quickly. It all comes down to 3 fundamental steps - Adding products in Shopify, uploading files & attaching those files to your Shopify products. The app works alongside Shopify's Products and Orders system as an add-on.

Once you have attached the files to your Shopify products, then you are armed to deliver. Once a customer purchase a product on your store, Fileflare will check to see which files are attached to the products in the order and then send them to the customer.

Step 1 - Create your Shopify products in your Shopify admin "Products" page

Go to your Shopify admin.
Go to the "Products" page.
Click the "Add product" button.
Scroll down to the Shipping section, and uncheck the "This is a physical product" checkbox. This will allow Fileflare to automatically fulfil the product on an order, also stop the shipping boxes showing up at checkout, and stop the shipping emails being sent to the customer.

Styling the download page

The download page is a pre-defined page that automatically shows on your Shopify store when a customer access their digital products. This page automatically inherits the styling of your Shopify store's theme, including elements such as fonts, padding, and sizes. While you can customise the page's content, you also have the flexibility to modify colors, sizes, and other design aspects. This ensures a fully tailored page that aligns with your store's overall theme.

Option 1: Customise from the in-app Checkout settings page

There are plenty of available options to style the download page. You can find styling options in the Checkout settings under "The download page" title.

If you want to add some extra styling options, the page is fully customisable with custom CSS. Please see our pre-built snippets below:
