Download page & links are not working? Shopify's app proxy scope update
We sent out multiple emails to all merchants that have not updated the app proxy. We have already attempted informing everyone of this change.
Information about this
Shopify have recently changed the permissions for Shopify apps using the Shopify app proxy. This was originally available to all apps to utilise without requesting permission, but now Shopify have changed it so that apps must request the permission to use it. This means that all stores who have not yet accepted it, must accept to allow Fileflare to continue serving the download links using the app proxy. Shopify's deadline for this is the 14th November.
This means merchants (you) need to log into Fileflare and accept the new permissions otherwise the download page and download links will stop working on the 14th.
What happens if I don't accept this new permission?
All download pages and download links will stop working on the 14th November 2025.
What do I need to do?
It's really quick and easy!
- Just log into your Shopify store admin
- Go to "Apps" and click on "Fileflare"
- You will see a Shopify page requesting you to accept new permissions by clicking the "Update" button. Once accepted, then you are done

What is the app proxy?
The app proxy is a cool feature by Shopify that allows apps to display data on your storefront. For example, our download pages and download links are served using the app proxy, so that the downloads are delivered using your store's domain name and are displayed on your store, e.g. example.com/download. This makes it more professional and integrated.
