Shopify Legacy checkout users
This guide is only for merchants using the old Legacy checkouts. Ignore this if you are using the new checkouts. You can see if you are using Legacy by going to your Shopify admin > Settings > Checkouts. Shopify will have a notice here informing you that you need to upgrade. It's very quick and easy to upgrade!
Fileflare, and all other Shopify apps have now been blocked from integrating with Legacy checkouts since February 2025. To enable downloads on the checkout pages, you must upgrade your Shopify checkouts to Shopify's new checkouts (Checkout Extensibility).
Shopify have now deprecated the use of ScriptTags on Legacy checkout pages. Script tags are how apps were able to add content to Legacy checkout pages. This move by Shopify is to get all merchants migrated over to their new checkouts. Existing ScriptTags will continue to work until August 28, 2025 for Plus shops, and until a later date yet to be announced for non-Plus.
If any changes are made to your checkout settings in Fileflare, Shopify will delete the existing script tags, and then you must upgrade to the new checkouts to re-enable Fileflare's checkout downloads. Shopify has completely blocked apps from re-enabling anything on the Legacy checkouts. Please use the new Shopify checkouts.
If you have already added the Fileflare checkout downloads on Legacy checkouts before January 20th 2025, then your script tags (checkout downloads) will continue to work for the time being until Shopify delete them. If you make any checkout changes in Fileflare, Shopify will also delete them and Fileflare will not be allowed to re-enable them. If this happens, you must upgrade your Shopify checkouts to the new checkouts to enable downloads on your checkout pages.
You can easily check to see if you are using the new checkouts by going to your Shopify admin > Settings > Checkout. If you are using the old Legacy checkouts, you should see a banner saying to upgrade. Or you can simply go to an order status page for one of your orders. Below is a comparison between the Legacy and New Order Status checkout pages:

Note for Shopify Starter plan users: this plan is temporally locked to using the Legacy checkouts without an option to upgrade. Apparently this is a known issue by Shopify, and they are actively working on adding the new checkouts to the Starter plan. It may have already been fixed by the time of reading this.
Go to your Shopify store admin
Go to Settings
Go to Checkout

If you are using Legacy checkouts, you should see a notice informing you that you need to upgrade. Follow the instructions to upgrade
