How to replace/update a file (upload new versions)
The notify function within this feature is scheduled for a significant upgrade in mid-2025. The forthcoming enhancements will provide a more comprehensive workflow, enabling a greater range of customisations, detailed filtering options for selecting customers, sending multiple files at the same time, and various additional improvements.
The "Update & notify customers" feature is available on the Basic plan or higher.
(optional) The "Edit email templates" feature is available on the Growth plan or higher.
There are two ways to update files and inform your customers in bulk.
Update the file in Fileflare using the update button
But then you will enable the customer account downloads
Then use your email marketing software to inform your customers that they can access the new updated files inside their customer account
Benefits of using method 1:
Works with multiple files
Use filters to send to specific customers
Better deliverability insights
Update the file in Fileflare using the Update button
Then you will be prompted if you want to inform your customers who have bought that file
Click "Yes" if you want to
Be aware:
This only works with a single file, so if you are updating many files, use method 2.
Cannot filter out cancelled or refunded orders
Cannot use filters to gather specific customers
This has a new upgrade coming very soon that will fix all of the above.
Edit the File replace email template to deliver a message with the updated file
Go to the ‘Assets’ page
Click on the asset that you want to update so it opens the asset page

You can click the “Choose file” button to upload your new version of the asset.
This is your last chance to customise the email template message (you need the Growth plan to unlock this).
If you select "Yes" to notify customers, Fileflare will notify everyone who has bought the Shopify products that the asset is attached to, and any orders that have the asset attached.
You can see all the emails that have sent by going to Settings > Customer emails. This will show all emails that have been sent by Fileflare.
If you select "No", no one will be notified.
There is also another method to notify previous customers. This works well if you are updating many files instead of just a single one. You can enable the customer account downloads, and then inform your customers using your email marketing software that they can access their new files in the customer accounts. Read more.
