Customise the email templates

Before we start

It’s important that you understand how mail servers work before you make customisations. Email deliverability is very important. Mail servers around the world check the characteristics of emails, and if they find spammy characteristics, they will send the emails to the spam folder.

Guidelines to achieve better email deliverability

Are your clients reporting issues with email deliverability? If so, consider the following best practices:

Content:

Use clear and appropriate language - Ensure the subject line, sender name, and body content are well-crafted and professional.
Limit the overuse of images and marketing content - Avoid overloading emails with graphics or excessive promotional material, which can trigger spam filters.
Maintain a professional tone - Avoid using all capital letters or unprofessional formatting that may raise red flags to mail servers.
Steer clear of spam triggers - Refrain from using buzzwords, emojis, or other elements that mail servers commonly associate with spam.
You can actually test your email by using Mail Tester. Simply place a test order in your store using this email, or if you already have a test order, go to the Order page in Fileflare, and use the pencil icon to change the email and then click the resend button.
Read Google's sending guidelines - Read the sections "Message formatting" and "Sending guidelines".

When using your own email:

Ensure that you have correctly set up DKIM, DMARC and SPF records on your email domain DNS.

Which plan do I need?

It’s possible to edit email templates if you have the Growth plan or higher. This allows you (the store) to customise messaging for your “fulfilment”, “pre-order release”, and the “update file” emails.

How to add a logo to your email

It’s actually quite simple. All you need to do is host your logo on Shopify, then add the image URL to the template.

You can copy the image URL of your logo in your site's menu bar. If you don't want to use that logo, then follow the steps below.

Go to your Shopify dashboard
Go to "Content", and then "Files"
Click the "Upload files" button

Upload your logo & copy the link

Go to Fileflare, then go to “Settings“
Click “Edit email templates“
Click the image icon

Paste the link in the “Source” box, then make sure the size is not too large

Click “Save“
